Jackknife started in West Newbury, Massachusetts, a small town on the Merrimack River where people know their neighbors and buy homes to keep. We bought our first home here in 2018. A few months later, a five-star contractor I found on Google pulled up to my house in an unmarked minivan to clean the chimney. All he had was a Ryobi drill, a chimney brush, and an air of confidence. Twenty minutes later, my living room was covered in soot, and he was upselling me on fractures he claimed he "discovered" in my chimney.

From that point on, whenever I have a question about my home, or need a Pro, I don't start with the internet - I ask a neighbor, and that's the driving force behind Jackknife. It feels like asking a knowledgeable neighbor, except it remembers everything about your home and never tires of your questions. Snap a photo or just ask, and Jackknife gives you a clear answer and the right Pro when you need one.

Five stars from strangers on the internet are bought and sold. A neighbor's recommendation can't be. So that's where the Pros on Jackknife come from. We don't run ads or take referral fees, so no Pro can pay to be recommended. Your home's information belongs to you. You can download it anytime, and we only share it when you ask us to.

It's early days, but as long as we keep putting the homeowner first we believe that someday Jackknife can become the homeowner's trusted advisor.
