A Note from the Founder

Built on the Merrimack.
Not in a garage in Palo Alto.

Jackknife started in West Newbury, Massachusetts. A small town on the Merrimack River where people know their neighbors and buy homes to keep.

If you have ever searched for a home repair online, you know the experience. Ads everywhere. Reviews you do not trust. A contractor pushing work you do not fully understand.

In a place like West Newbury, you do not start with Google. You ask a neighbor.

That simple instinct has been lost.

For thirty years, technology promised to help homeowners manage their most important asset. Instead, it built marketplaces that sell homeowners to contractors. Your information gets passed around before you have clarity. The incentives are backwards.

That is not a technology failure. It is a values failure.

Now, with AI, we have a chance to rebuild this system from the ground up.

Your home data belongs to you — no exceptions.

We do not sell your information. We do not run ads. When you need help, you decide who can review your home issue and help you. A contractor pays a small fee for that introduction. That is how we keep Jackknife free for homeowners and still make money.

We built this because we live it. We have stood in front of a crack in the foundation and wondered if it was serious. We have opened a quote and had no idea if the number was fair. That feeling should not exist.

You deserve clarity. You deserve control. You deserve a system that works for you.

We are building that system. For every homeowner who has felt like the process was stacked against them. Because it was.

Until now.
